7 Weekend Recovery Tips

We all have a little too ‘many’ every once in awhile. As much as we intend on only having one or two, sometimes our friends have other ideas! Here are a few tips on how to get through the next day that little bit easier.

Remember when you could go out for 2 – 3 nights a week with little to no sleep between and after and be fine? Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case.


Inadequate sleep basically makes your body cry for help and more rest. Did you notice when you went out and only had one or two but not much sleep and still felt like a train had hit you, yep, you need more sleep! The best cure for a hangover is sleeping through the worst of it.


Having mind over matter helps. When sleeping in isn’t on the cards, it’s time to fake it til you make it! Have a shower, get the smell of alcohol off you and think happy thoughts. Oh and brush your teeth, twice!


Drink water and lots of it. Alcohol dehydrates the crap out of you so it’s crucial to rehydrate as much as possible the following day. If your not a big water drinker, opt for electrolytes like coconut water or powerade. Electrolytes help your body hold on to the water it needs to hydrate.


Do you remember your mother telling you to have ginger beer to settle your tummy? Ginger is great for reducing bloating and nausea.


Yep, sorry to say it! I know it’s the last thing you want to do but do a high intensity calorie burning workout, get your blood pumping and oxygen flowing and you will sweat out all the toxins and start to feel alive again.


Alcohol strips you of your essential vitamins and minerals. Take Vitamin C and B Complex with a big glass of water before you go to bed or in the morning.


Let’s be honest, we all crave a greasy meal the next day, motivation is at an all time low and we just want comfort food. But in all reality, these carb filled deep fried goodness foods do nothing other than make us feel worse, bloated and gross.
