4 Causes Of Ageing And What To Do About It
- NOT ENOUGH EXERCISE AND POOR DIET – Moderate exercise can improve circulation and boost immune system. Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet with fresh fruit and vegetables as they can help to prevent damage. Sugar and refined carbohydrates can also accelerate ageing.
- YOU NEED TO DRINK MORE WATER AND LESS ALCOHOL – Alcohol is rough on the skin, it dehydrates your skin and in time will damage the skin. To keep hydrated through out the day consume around 3 litres of room temperature water. Drinking water which is around room temperature helps your digestive system as when you drink cold water your body has to work harder or digestion takes longer because the water can’t aid with digestion until it at a warmer temperature
- INCORRECT MAKEUP REMOVAL – Cleanse your skin gently, scrubbing your skin can irritate it and can accelerate skin ageing. Wash your face twice a day and after sweating heavily, perspiration especially when wearing a hat or helmet. Applying moisturiser every day is also super important as it traps water in the skin, keeping it hydrated.
- TANNING & SUNBEDS – Exposure to sunlight (UV rays) is the biggest culprit in ageing skin overtime. The sun or sunbeds UV light damages the fibres in the skin called elastin which causes the skin to sag, stretch and loses the ability to snap back after being stretched. Remember every time you are getting a tan you are prematurely ageing your skin, either from the sun or tanning bed, they all emit harmful UV rays. Alternatively use self tanners, such as Little Honey and/or a SPF 30 or higher sunscreen.
